'Pocket lockets'
2016
Commisioned by Daisy Arts & Febfest, funded by Arts Council England.
I was invited to create a series of works for inclusion in a group exhibition marking the 100 year Centenary of the First World War. The resulting pieces were exhibited in Bishop Auckland County Durham as part of the Febfest festival.
My response was to create something small and intimate which could be carried and treasured, personal to the 'holder'.
The page inserts are blind embossed & hand embroidered with words of love
transcribed from archived letters to loved ones during the first world war.
Cloth bound with black/vanilla opaline glass (pate de verre-paste of glass) the textured print surface taken
from vintage lace.
paper; thread; ribbon; cloth; glass (dimensions 4.5 cm)
