Working Process
Glass
i: I Work primarily with kiln formed glass specialising in lost wax casting and pate de verre.
My starting point is my collection of reclaimed old portrait photographs. Selecting facial
references I feel I can use, I produce drawings from which I exude a particular expressive
quality before I begin modelling in clay. These studies are further developed in wax before
casting in glass.
ii: Working with a series of moulds I take impressions from garments I have made or collected.
They are replicated in glass using a process called pate de verre (glass paste) this allows me
to control my colour application and cast very fine pieces of glass.
