Vestige: a visible trace, evidence or sign of something that once existed.

In trying to capture remnants of the past I am dealing with fragile material, attempting to replace an idea with something tangible.
Essentially a sculptor using glass and metal as my mediums after initially researching a project I work using clay and wax and from this modelling produce casts.  In the last few years I have worked on a series of group sculptures where I try to encapsulate a specific moment in time-usually springing from a childhood memory;these recollections can be both intense and vague.  I am attempting through my work to convey distant memories dealing with awkwardness and incomprehension,  my characters seem lost, ostracized in their habitat.  I look at the complex, social groupings and an individuals response to their society.  This can result in a range of situations which may be farcical, distressing or both.
The children in my work are trying to find their place in a complicated world in much the same way we as adults are..
